Story
It’s the 1930’s. The Austrian Katharina Walser comes to Switzerland as a waitress in hopes to start a new life and find true happiness. At first her dreams seem to come true. She falls in love with forester Tres, she moves in with him and they get married. But when her son dies tragically in a lumbering accident, blame and mistrust drives the couple apart. The marriage crumbles, and after causing mayhem in the village Katharina is sent to an insane asylum by the village officials. She is held there for years and is subject to hydrotherapy and electro shock therapy, a lobotomy is supposed to make her immune to feelings. When Katharina Walser is finally released from the institution after 15 years, new misfortune finds her. A Swiss film based on a true story.
